It’s been a rough day in LA and all across the country.
Trump wants to convince the country that LA is filled with burning cars and violent rioters flying Mexican flags. It’s not. The National Guard wasn’t called for, and the Marines were most CERTAINLY not called for.
But, Trump gonna do Trump. It’s not like we didn’t know this was coming.
Take a breath ...
Here are 5 things you can do today to help keep immigrants stay a little safer in our country.
Watch Rachel Maddow’s show from 6/9/25 in which she interviews Karen Bass, the Mayor of LA, and Ezra Levin, one of the co founders of Indivisible. Ezra reports that since Trump overreacted to the protests in LA by deploying the National Guard and Marines, over 100 new action groups have added No Kings Day actions to their national map. Stay focussed on getting your information from reliable news sources. The Freedom Writers has a great Info Sheet on reliable news sources. Now is a good time to re-commit to supporting them with your eyeballs and your dollars. Journalistic integrity is critical in times like these. Fortify yourself with facts, so you can respond confidently when you interact with people who may be swept up in the lies.
Take some time to rest and and think about the special people in your life. Trump wants to rip families and communities apart. We want to hold them together. Take 5 minutes to appreciate your family, your friends, your action group.
Work on your protest sign for No Kings Day on June 14th. And, yes, we all need to come out and demonstrate PEACEFULLY this Saturday. The more of us that come out, the better it will be for everyone.
When you’re ready to get back into the fray, read the email Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, sent out today There’s a ton of stuff to do in it, but YOU don’t need to do it all. You just need to do your piece. If all did our small piece, great things can be accomplished.
No one ever said stopping a totalitarian regime was going to be easy. And I’ll say it once again: It’s not like we didn’t know this was coming.
