The Power of the People
Today, we show our power.
Today, we say “Hands Off!” through LARGE numbers of LARGE actions all across the country.
More than 1,200 “Hands Off!” demonstrations have been planned by more than 150 groups, including civil rights organizations, labor unions, LBGTQ+ advocates, veterans and fair-elections activists. The protests are planned for the National Mall in Washington, D.C., state capitols and other locations in all 50 states
I’m getting on a bus in a few hours to go to Boston’s Hands Off action. I’ll be posting photos from the Boston action later on today.
PLEASE: Share your photos of the actions you’re going to today with me so I can post them too!
We have the power. We just need the will and the resolve to use it!

4/22/25 - Holocaust Remembrance Day - Yom Hashnoah (YOM Hash-ow-a)
Holocaust Remembrance Day is usually celebrated on Jan 27 because it was on that date, in 1945, that the soldiers of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front liberated some 7,000 prisoners who were being held in Auschwitz.
But, commemorating the “Day of Holocaust Remembrance and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity” can happen any day of the year.
Understanding and remembering the German Holocaust is every bit as important as understanding and remembering American chattel slavery system and the American genocide of Native Americans. They are all horrific examples of caste systems, as explored in Isabel Wilkerson’s excellent book, ‘Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.’ And, unfortunately, they all serve as models to modern day Fascists who wish to study how to effectively oppress ‘the other.’ As activists, we need to know how caste systems work in order to fight them effectively.
Tues, 4/22/25 6:00pm at the Longmeadow Adult Center, Longmeadow MA - Yom Hashnoah (YOM Hash-ow-a)
Commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day Event:
In the Kovno ghetto, Henia Lewin's parents faced a difficult choice — to try to get Henia out to safety or to stay together. Henia and her parents had been forced into the ghetto soon after the German invasion of Kovno (Kaunas), Lithuania, in 1941. About a month later, the Germans closed the ghetto off, trapping 35,000 Jews inside. Only 2,000 Jews of the Kovno ghetto survived. Henia shares her compelling story of how her parents smuggled her out of the ghetto and how she survived the Holocaust.
If you don’t live in Western Mass, check your community calendars for similar events commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day. If there are none this year, consider how you might organize one for next year.

Senator Corey Booker is a good, honorable person who works in service to all American people beyond his NJ constituents. I’m fortunate to see him as a contemporary. One day I hope to read in a history book about his good-actions & his love for America…
