The phone's the thing, and beautiful apology to Canada from George Conway and us.

TODAY’S ACTIONS - The call’s the thing
Hello Freedom Writers,
Last night I went out to dinner, and I had a very thought provoking conversation with a dear friend and fellow Freedom Writer. He said, “I know all this stuff that Trump is doing to our country is horrible, but I have faith we’ll be able to fix most of it when we gain control of Congress in 2026. But what we won’t be able to fix is the damage he’s doing to our relationships with other countries.”
He has a point. How can other countries trust us any more now that we’ve unleashed Trump and his reckless regime on them not once, but twice? The Tariffs will drive other countries to buy and sell their goods elsewhere, and once they’ve done that, they won’t come back, because we’re not trustworthy. Trump’s bathroom storage of classified documents and Musk’s access to systems without clearance will convince other countries to stop sharing critical intelligence with us, because we’re not trustworthy. Not to mention the the anger our friends and neighbors have toward Trump’s rude remarks. I can imagine how Canadians feel about us now … “51st state of the US, MY ASS!”
In international relationships, trust is more valuable than any army, arsenal or economy.
What Trump is doing is heartbreaking.
It’s dangerous.
And it’s going to harm generations of Americans to come.
What can we do about it? Don’t let up on ur actions! We’ll discuss that below.
But first, I want to share this beautiful video apology from George Conway (and all of us) to Canada, courtesy of The Contrarian.
Now, let’s get to work!
When we started this Substack, we promised you that we would find the most high priority and IMPACTFUL actions and methods to help you protect our democracy.
We also promised you that if things changed, our actions would also change.
Well, things have changed. Now, calls are top priority. It looks like letters and postcards just are cutting it any more. I know. I’m bummed too.
This is for 3 reasons:
We have to act fast to keep up with Trump’s reckless crime spree.
We’re hearing that elected officials are getting overwhelmed with communications, they’ve switched to primarily counting calls of verified residents by zipcode.
We’re also hearing that MAGA constituents are making more calls than we are.
This advice came from a U.S. Senator’s senior staffer via Sharon Tracy and Freedom Writer, Louise Amyot:
Republican callers generally outnumber Democratic callers 4-1, and when it's an issue that single-issue-voters pay attention to (like gun control, or planned parenthood funding, etc...), it's often closer to 11-1.
That’s one of the things that's recently pushed Democratic congresspeople who are on the fence to vote with the Republicans. Let’s flip that number.
The staffer was very clear that any sort of online contact (i.e., emails) basically get ignored, and letters pretty much get thrown in the trash, unless you have a particularly strong emotional story — but even then it's not worth the time it took you to craft that letter.
[[[ OUCH! ]]]
OK, so let’s be practical. Since we’re doing calls, the best way to do calls is to use the app “5 Calls.”
Today’s actions are to:
If you don’t already have it, get the 5 Calls app onto your phone and set up your location.
Then make these 8 calls (see screen shot below). If you want to make more than these 8 calls, great! Go for it!) It doesn’t matter if you’ve already contacted your elected officials about these 4 nominees. You can call them abut the same issue multiple times.
THEN PLEASE LOG YOUR ACTION: After you’ve made your calls, please log your action and share your feedback HERE. This feedback is REALLY helpful to us.
Thank you for being a Freedom Writer, and thank you for helping us save our democracy!

Thanks, Judy. Yes, I know. I've heard that from a few people. Please try again and let us know how it goes.
I tried to call our Rep and both senators and the phone line was so garbled at the Senate offices (both DC, local and regional) that no message could be heard or left. Something is wrong with the system.
