The people in our country may differ from each other in many ways, but there is one thing we all have in common: each of us has (or had) a mother.
My mom is the reason I know what real love is.
My mom is the reason I know what sacrifice is.
She’s also the reason I know that strength comes from resiliance and tenacity, not brute force.
Like for many people, my relationship with my mother is complicated, but that’s because life is complicated, and she has been at the center of my life from the beginning.
One of the things she taught me is it’s not easy being a mom. Later, I found she was right about that! None of us are fully prepared for mother when we find ourselves in our first pregnancy, or our second …
As a society, we could do a better job when it comes to helping moms.
When we support our mothers, we support the next generation.
When we empower our mothers, we empower our nation.
So, thank you, Mom, for teaching me everything you taught me, and doing everything you did for me.
I wouldn’t be me without you.
